For over 25 years, Warriors Dojo has helped children, teens, and adults build confidence through traditional Shotokan Karate. Our instructors are committed to developing strong martial artists and even stronger individuals by teaching discipline, respect, perseverance, and self-defense in a welcoming family environment.

A LEGACY CONTINUES
Warriors Dojo entered an exciting new chapter. We celebrated 25 years of serving the Bloomfield community, launched the Gifted Warriors program, expanded our competition team, and proudly represented New Jersey at national karate championships. Today, we continue to inspire students of all ages to become confident leaders through tradition, discipline, and excellence.

RAISING THE STANDARD
The dojo continued to evolve by increasing tournament participation in NJ, NY, PA, MA, FL, CT, WA & Scotland. The dojo continued developing stronger competitors, and providing students with new opportunities to challenge themselves. Even during difficult times, our commitment to our students and community never wavered.

THE FOUNDATION
Komo-Kai Dojo is founded in Rincón, Puerto Rico. Shihan Eddie Torres begins teaching traditional Shotokan Karate.
2006-2010
GROWING OUR FAMILY
As the dojo continued to grow, so did our community. More students, instructors, and families joined the Warriors Dojo family, creating a welcoming environment focused on character development, respect, and personal growth. Our students began competing in tournaments in New Jersey.
2001-2005
WARRIORS DOJO OPENS
Warriors Dojo opens in Bloomfield, NJ, with a mission to help build confidence, discipline, and respect through traditional Shotokan Karate.
2011-2016
BUILDING LEADERS
Warriors Dojo expanded its programs while developing future leaders both on and off the mat. Students advanced through the ranks; instructors were born. They continued their training, and the dojo strengthened its commitment to excellence in traditional Shotokan Karate. Our students began competing in tournaments in NJ, NY, and PA.

Shihan Eddie Torres

With over 35 years of martial arts experience, Shihan Eddie Torres is the Founder and Owner of Warriors Dojo. He is a 6th Degree Black Belt in Shotokan Karate, a 1st Degree Black Belt in Goshin Ryu Jujitsu, and earned his first black belt in Karate Jutsu under Miguel Montalvo in Yamabushi Goju Ryu in Puerto Rico.
As the dojo's highest-ranking instructor, Shihan Torres is dedicated to preserving the traditions of martial arts while helping students build confidence, discipline, respect, and strong character. He oversees the technical standards, curriculum, and long-term vision of Warriors Dojo, inspiring students of all ages to reach their full potential both on and off the mat.
Shihan Dai, Travis Saiboo

Sensei Travis Saiboo began training at Warriors Dojo at just 9 years old and started teaching at 15 — bringing over 11 years of teaching experience to his role today. He has since earned his 4th Degree Black Belt and now serves as the dojo’s Chief Instructor.
A USA-NKF certified instructor, he leads students of all ages and has coached Warriors Dojo athletes at the USA Karate National Championships.
Sensei Travis is SafeSport and CPR/AED certified, and as an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, brings added expertise in strength and athletic conditioning to his coaching. He also holds an MBA, supporting his role in guiding the dojo’s growth and vision.
Sensei, Angiel Saiboo

3rd degree
Sensei Angiel Saiboo began training at Warriors Dojo at just 9 years old and started teaching at 15 — bringing over 9 years of teaching experience to her role today. She has since earned her 3rd Degree Black Belt and serves as one of the dojo’s senior instructors. A USA-NKF certified instructor, she leads students of all ages and has helped train and coach Warriors Dojo athletes at the USA Karate National Championships.
Sensei Angiel is SafeSport and CPR/AED certified, and as an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, brings added expertise in nutrition and athletic conditioning to her coaching. She is also a BSN, Registered Nurse, certified in PALS and ACLS, bringing valuable medical knowledge and emergency preparedness to her role as an instructor.
Sensei, Lisa Cortes
Senior Instructor

With over 15 years of martial arts experience, Sensei Lisa Cortes earned her first-degree black belt in 2015 and has remained dedicated to the continuous study of traditional Shotokan Karate. She has competed throughout New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, demonstrating her commitment to both personal growth and excellence in competition.
As an instructor, Sensei Lisa is a positive role model who is passionate about motivating students of all ages. She works with every class at Warriors Dojo, with a special focus on the 4–6-year-old program, where she helps build the confidence, discipline, and strong fundamentals that shape the next generation of martial artists and competitors.
Senpai, Kevin Rodriguez

Following in the footsteps of his older brother, Brian, Senpai Kevin began his karate journey in 2018 and earned his first-degree black belt in 2025.
He is CPR certified and works alongside the Chief Instructor to help students develop strong fundamentals, confidence, and discipline.
As one of the dojo's younger instructors, Senpai Kevin naturally connects with children and teens, creating a positive and motivating learning environment. His enthusiasm, leadership, and ability to relate to younger students make him an important role model both on and off the mat
Senpai, Gabriella Miraval
Assistant Instructor

Following in her father's footsteps, Gabriella began her martial arts journey in 2016 and has trained consistently ever since. She is CPR certified, an active competitor, and continues to challenge herself while demonstrating dedication, perseverance, and a strong commitment to traditional Shotokan Karate.
Despite suffering a knee injury that delayed her black belt test on two occasions, Gabriella remained determined and continued training with a positive attitude. She is eagerly working toward earning her black belt and serves as an excellent example of resilience, hard work, and perseverance for the students she helps mentor.
Senpai, Isadora Galvez

Isadora began her martial arts journey in Brazil at the age of seven, training until she was ten years old. After moving to the United States, she resumed her training as a teenager at Warriors Dojo, where she continues to develop her skills. She is CPR certified, competes in the Adult Intermediate division, and assists the Chief Instructor in classes.
Known for her kindness, patience, and gentle approach, Isadora creates a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable learning and growing. She encourages every Warrior to believe in themselves, reminding them that with dedication and determination, they can achieve anything they set their minds to. Her positive attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine care for others make her a valued instructor and role model within the Warriors Dojo family.
Sensei, Jorge MantilLa

Sensei Jorge Mantilla began his martial arts journey in Ecuador before moving to the United States, where he continued his training at Warriors Dojo. His passion for traditional Shotokan Karate became a family tradition, as all three of his children trained at Warriors Dojo and earned their black belts.
Whenever his schedule allows, Sensei Jorge steps onto the mat to assist the instructional team, sharing his knowledge and experience with students of all ages. Known for his friendly personality, patience, and great sense of humor, he creates an encouraging environment where students are motivated to learn, grow, and enjoy the journey of martial arts. His passion for preserving the traditions of Shotokan Karate continues to inspire the Warriors Dojo family.
Giselle Torres
Director of Operations
Growing up as the daughter of Shihan Eddie Torres, Giselle has been surrounded by martial arts her entire life and began training at the age of four. Having grown up in the dojo, she understands firsthand the positive impact martial arts can have on a student's confidence, discipline, and personal growth.
As the Director of Operations, Giselle is passionate about building lasting relationships with students and their families while helping create a welcoming environment where everyone feels like part of the Warriors Dojo family. Working behind the scenes at tournaments, belt tests, events, and everyday operations, she is dedicated to ensuring every student has a positive experience and supporting the continued growth and success of Warriors Dojo.
